Most projects require a chain-nose (w/smooth faces) and a round-nose pliers (with at least one side that is perfectly round), and a wire cutters.    If you are using cable wire, you will also need a crimp pliers.

For beginners, we suggest starting with low-end tools (usually around $10.00 - $15.00 in price), getting a good feel for using these tools, and then purchasing higher quality tools. Besides those listed above, you might also consider purchasing a bead reamer.

If working with hard wire, you will want to invest in one or more higher quality flush cutters.    I'd start at a price point between $35.00 and $60.00 per pliers.

WARNING: Do not waste your money on the super-economy tool sets you'll find at your local craft store.    Typically, the two sides of the jaws do not meet correctly.   This has a devasting impact on your body.
