POEM

Something For Everyone

It doesn't matter who you are --
Rapper, diva or parade star.
If you're artsy-fartsy or sedate,
A Goth, a pimp or just out-of-date;
A hippi chick or a sports fan
A sk8rgrrl or Elizabethan
It doesn't matter who you are,
There's something here for you!

It's Eco-chic, it's avant-garde
It's punk and funk and tacky;
It's bright and cheery dark and grim
Conservative and wacky.
It's practical, fantastical,
Quiet and subdued.
It's hip and trendy, loud and proud
It breaks ev'ry taboo
Whatever your tastes may be,
There's something here for you!

So if you're 5 or 92,
If you're a bride or feeling blue,
If you are Uber-modern or Plane Jane
A horse lover or into pain
If your country club has a fetish night
Or a parrot gives you great delight
Here's a piece that's out of sight!
There's something here for you!

Wait -- What's that?!? It's ugly you say?
But every part is fine in it's own way!
No cigarette butts or yucky things,
No barf or poo or junk on a string.
In a different time or a different place,
Everything here could look good near a face --
Except it's unbalanced, unfocussed, a textural mish-mash;
It has no pattern, no flow, its colors all clash.
But a lack of direction is its biggest crime,
So don't make these mistakes when you design!

Note from Jen regarding the 75% beads rule:

Everything on this necklace has been strung on, and many of the components are made of beads themselves. Items such as the brooches, chains, lace and the barrette have been strung through natural holes created by their clasps, links or construction. The stem of the plastic grapes has been bent and taped to create a loop for stringing. Wire has been bent into spirals so as to have a place to string through, pearls have been knotted to create a hole to string and a hole has been punched through the Elisabethan collar and bubble wrap. The Dead cat is strung on a safety pin through his "head wound."
