| LISTING OF MATERIALS USED IN
THE NECKLACE:
1. Scrap of Yarn
2. Cigarette Butts
3. Damaged Band Aid (clasping necklace together)
Artist's Note: I seriously considered using various ugly beads and/or
other materials in combination with the butts in this necklace, however,
after much thought and much consideration, I chose not to do so. I believe
that the cigarette butts, with all of their connotations of ill health,
addiction, foul smells, smoke (its residue) and personal and familial
destruction, would only be made less emphatic by the addition of other
elements. This necklace is nothing but ugly.
P.S. This necklace is SO UGLY, that....I constructed it while wearing
rubber gloves, ...out of doors, ...at night! And, ...I keep it in a sealed
plastic container under a bench on the porch!
