At Be Dazzled Beads in Nashville, Tennessee and at Land
of Odds on-line, accessible from everywhere, you can find one
of the country's largest selections of glass beads, seed beads, delicas,
semi-precious stone beads, cords, chains, filigrees, sterling silver components,
earring findings, pin findings, clasps, charms, stringing supplies and
more.
We also operate a jewelry design and beadwork educational curriculum structured
as a professional and developmental curriculum. We call this program The
Center for Beadwork & Jewelry Arts. We offer about 40 classes each
month in various disciplines, including beadweaving, bead stringing, wire
work jewelry, fused glass, fiber arts, and silversmithing.
The Open Window Gallery showcases the works of bead and jewelry artists,
both local and worldwide. These artists work with glass and vintage glass,
fused and lampworked glass, gemstones, shells and other natural materials,
sterling silver, gold-filled and 14KT, among other materials. These artists
create wonderful and imaginative pieces, using extraordinary materials
in exciting ways.
The public is always welcome to come by. And when you do, you might catch
a glimpse of our dogs, Lily and Daisy. They are so smart, and love to
wait on customers when we're busy.
The CENTER FOR BEADWORK & JEWELRY ARTS -- the educational program of Be Dazzled Beads in Nashville, Tennessee -- offers a wide range of beading and jewelry making classes. CBJA is committed to the teaching of beadwork and jewelry-making from a skills-development and -applications approach. CBJA is a different kind of school. At other places and programs, beading and jewelry making classes are taught from a Crafts Perspective, where you learn a set of steps to create a specific project. At CBJA, we teach classes from an Art and Design tradition. We approach teaching developmentally, where classes are taken in a specific order, with attention paid towards learning a hierarchy of skills and how they are interrelated.
The CBJA offers courses, for all levels of beaders and jewelry-makers:
- Bead Stringing, including attaching clasps, pearl knotting
- Bead Weaving, including loom, peyote, brick, right angle weave, ndbele,
needle & thread, fringe/strap/edge techniques, stitch-of-the-month
- Wire-Working and Wire-Wrapping
- Art & Craft as a Business, including getting your business started,
pricing, marketing, doing craft shows, internet marketing
- General Skill Areas, such as color, jewelry design
- Fiber Arts, including bead crochet, hemp, macramé, bead-knitted
bags
- Silversmithing
Open Window Gallery: The Open Window Gallery showcases
the works of Nashville area bead and jewelry artists. These artists work
with glass and vintage glass, fused and lampworked glass, gemstones, shells
and other natural materials, sterling silver, gold-filled and 14KT, among
other materials.
