COLORED COPPER WIRE

Perfect for jewelry design, wire art, sculpture, pottery and crafts.

This is the highest quality permanently colored copper wire available from the wire industry to date. No other offers the resistance to scratching, peeling and marring. This is due to the special enameling process used to coat over the 30 plus colors we offer. After the enamel is applied, the wire is clear coated to prevent tarnishing. Artistic Wire is available in an ever-growing selection of gauges

Plated over steel or a brass alloy of steel.

Craft Wire is a good quality wire for craft uses. Silver, copper and colored wires are covered  with anti-tarnish colors and coatings.    While this prevents some discoloration of the platings, the platings themselves do not bond to the steel underneath, so over time, or with excessive handling or movement of your pieces, the plating chips off.

We do not recommend this generic Craft Wire for finished jewelry projects. This wire is good for practice. It is good for creating something stationery, like a beaded Christmas ornament. This does not hold up well for jewelry.   If you need to work with a plated wire, then any colored copper wire will work well for jewelry.

MEMORY WIRE AND END CAPS

Memory Wire is made of steel.  It gets its name from the fact that it always remembers its shape.  You can string it with beads, crimp the ends, and have a flexible bracelet, necklace or ring that can easily be put on or taken off.  Make a bracelet with several rows (rings) of beads!

Bend this flexible steel wire back and forth with a pliers to cut it.  Don't use wire cutters, as they will be damaged. Use more industrial strength tools (roundnose pliers, wire cutters, chainnose pliers) with Memory Wire. Regular tools typically used in jewelry making and beadwork are not strong enough for the Memory Wire, and will get ruined.

The wire diameter is approximately .023".
