HOW TO USE HEAD PINS

CRAFT TIP OF THE DAY: How To Use Head Pins: Head pins and eye pins are used to create dangles. To use the pin, first, straighten it out. Next, be sure there is just a hair's width greater than 1/4" of wire showing above the bead. Using a round- nose pliers, bend the desired piece into a round shape. Bring the end of the pin into the hole opening of the bead. A nice touch, which enhances the saleability of your products, as well as make them functionally more secure, is to loop the end of the head pin twice around, instead of once.

The standard head pin is 20-gauge thick. This works well for most beads. Many gemstone beads, however, have very thin holes, and may require use of a 22-gauge, or even a 24-gauge, head-pin. 22-gauge works well, but 24-gauge may be on the thin side for some projects.
