Teacher Guide
Selection of Teachers and Courses
For Each Course...

For each proposed course, teachers should prepare a written proposal which includes the following information:  (see examples under Electives  ).
1.  Course title
2.  Goals and objectives
3.  Description of major project or tasks
4.  Description of skills/techniques/concepts to be learned
5.   At the beginning of this class, the typical student should be able to do/know the following...
6.   At the end of this class, the typical student should achieve/accomplish/learn the following...
7.  Finished sample
8.  Written instructions
9.  Supply and tools list
10. Estimation of class time for instruction, and indication whether project will be finished during class time.  If not, what additional time requirements will there be to finish the project.
11.  Written course description for catalog or publicity purposes
12.  List of required and recommended reading
13.  Minimum and maximum number of students preferred
14.  Additional costs to student about instructional fee, (such as for books, supplies, tools)

Proposals for advanced classes do not necessarily require written instructions.   They should, however, require some completed work from the teacher in the medium or subject matter to be taught.   They should outline the technique or materials to be taught, and what the teacher intends for his or her students to achieve in the class, a full supply list, and an estimate of instruction time and of time to finish any classwork or project.

Teachers proposing a course should also indicate what amount of compensation they would expect.

For instructors interested in presenting a workshop at CBJA, please review our policies and procedures in both our Student Guide and our Teacher Guide.    Also please review our Sample Workshop Proposal and Sample Workshop Contract .    When thinking about proposing a workshop, please consider how it coordinates with any part of our curriculum, as well as what "value-added" qualities it brings to our curriculum.
