This class is a prerequisite for all the other wire wrapping classes.

PREREQUISITES:

Suggested that student take Orientation to Beads & Jewelry Findings

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES: To learn the basic technique of wire wrapping.
DESCRIPTION of MAJOR PROJECTS/TASKS: Student will learn to make a bangle bracelet from sterling and/or 14KT gold-filled wire.
DESCRIPTION of SKILLS/TECHNIQUES/CONCEPTS TO BE LEARNED:

- learn the differences in wire
- learn how to use the proper tools
- learn how to manipulate and twist your own wire
- learn how to wrap it to sterling pattern wire
- learn to make your own clasp
- and with printed instructions, learn how to determine the final size or your piece

CLASS TIME ESTIMATE: 2 1/2 - 3 hours

Description: Learn the basic techniques involved in wire wrapping. This class is open to all skill levels but is designed for a true beginner, one who has never tried this medium before. Each student will learn the differences in wire, how to use the proper tools, and how to manipulate the wire to create a finished bangle bracelet. The student will also learn how to make and attach a clasp.
