At the beginning of this class, the typical student should be able to do/know the following:

Know what the different types of jewelry findings are, such as what clasps, headpins and eyepins are.

Understanding the basics about wire and wire shaping.

Be comfortable using tools for shaping wire.

Supplies:
You'll first need to decide if you want to work with sterling silver or gold filled chain and wire.

Select 3 styles of sterling silver chain OR 3 styles of gold filled chain:
2 ft of 3 of these 4 in sterling silver: (from chain at Be Dazzled Beads)
632250/B 1.4mm flat cable
632779/B 2.2mm flat drawn cable
632362/B 1.1mm venetian box
632240/B 1.6mm long & short

OR,

3 ft of each of these gold filled chains (from chain at Be Dazzled Beads)
633619/B 1.6mm long & short
633613/B 2.1mm drawn cable

 

3 feet of 22-gauge wire (in sterling silver or gold filled)
1 foot of 24-gauge wire (in sterling silver or gold filled) if using freshwater pearls
2 feet of 20 gauge wire (in sterling silver or gold filled) if making your own french hooks
or, 5 pairs of french hooks in sterling silver or gold filled

Beads of your choosing

Tools: (tools are provided for classroom use, thought students may want to purchase their own)
