PREREQUISITES: WIRE9001:Orientation to Wire and Wire Shaping
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES: Teach students to make chain out of wire, link chain with beads, and interlock and interconnect chain with beads to create pieces of jewelry.
DESCRIPTION of MAJOR PROJECTS/TASKS:

- Make different styles of chain, using wire

- Create Victorian Lace Choker

- learn to incorporate beads into the design or use of chain in jewelry
- learn how to plan and coordinate the design of a piece of jewelry using disparate parts

Learn to make simple chains out of wire, by creating shapes and interlocking them.    Then learn how to embellish chains with beads.   Finally, create a Victorian Chain Choker using chain and beads within an elaborate design.

- coordinate the design of a piece of jewelry using wire and beads in an elaborate pattern using chain and beads

Use sterling silver or copper wire.
5 feet - 20-gauge, round

Any beads student wishes to use: Examples:

40 - 4mm beads (any style, such as fire polish or austrian crystal tapers)
3  - 6mm beads (any style, such as fire polish or austrian crystal tapers)
3 - 8mm beads (any style, such as fire polish or austrian crystal tapers)
5 - 6mm round druk beads

wire tools:(tools are provided for classroom use, thought students may want to purchase their own)
round nose pliers
chain nose pliers
wire cutters
optional: flat nose pliers
