| GOALS AND OBJECTIVES: |
The student will learn to create beads using an open torch flame to melt glass and manipulate it into artful shapes, forms and textures. The final objective is for the student to have the basic knowledge and techniques for lampwork bead making, of which they can grow and expand in the directions they want.

| DESCRIPTION of MAJOR PROJECTS/TASKS: | - review the types of equipment, tools
and materials lampwork bead makers use - make a variety of beads using different techniques and tools |
| DESCRIPTION of SKILLS/TECHNIQUES/CONCEPTS TO BE LEARNED: | - learn how to use a minor torch - learn how to manipulate molten glass, using gravity and tools to form spheres and other shapes out of the glass - how to make stringers used in decorating - how to embellish those beads with additional glass, and how to manipulate those embellishments into various artistic designs -- floral, dots, raked, plunged |
