FG7101: Introduction to Fused Glass

either FG7102 or FG7103 intermediate level fused glass workshops.
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES:

This class presents an opportunity for you to further explore the design possibilities of designing with fused glass.

 

DESCRIPTION of MAJOR PROJECTS/TASKS:

Learn to emboss, etch and create decal designs in glass. Each of the techniques mentioned will be accomplished using dichroic and iridescent glass.

This workshop will cover the following:
1. Brief review of safety
2. How to Emboss on Hot Glass
a. Tools to use
b. How hot is hot enough
c. How to emboss
3. How to Etch Fusible Glass
a. When to Etch
4. What kind of decals can I use
a. Which decals can be fused
b. How to fuse decals and glass
5. and much more....
6. Design, Create & Complete
a. Earring and Pendant sets
b. Coasters or Tiles
c. Framed glass artwork
d. And much more...

Most pieces can be fired and taken home the same day of the workshop.

Students should bring their cutting tools or purchase them at the time of class.
