FG7101:  Introduction to Fused Glass Workshop

SKILL SET AREA: Lampwork and Fused Glass
PREREQUISITES: None
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES:

This class will introduce you to the world of designer glass cabochons/pendants. You will learn to create a number of glass cabochon/pendant shapes that can be wire wrapped, framed in beaded-crocheted frame ropes or simply embellished with silver or gold type bails. Students will learn to use their creative and artistic abilities.

This class will cover safety issues and technical aspects required for this and future workshops. Some previous glass cutting experience is useful, but not required.

 

DESCRIPTION of MAJOR PROJECTS/TASKS:

This workshop will cover the following:
1. Discussions on Safety and The Fusing of Glass
a. Glass Compatibility
b. Annealing & Firing Process

2. Design, Create & Complete
a. 2 character pins with stringers and frit
b. 2 pendant & earring sets with dichroic and art glass

(pieces can be fired and taken home the same day of the workshop)

Basic tools and supplies provided with workshop.
Students may buy additional supplies, as well as tools and kilns, from the instructor.
