GOALS AND OBJECTIVES:

Learn the basics of bead knitting.

To complete a small, knitted beaded necklace bag.

 

 

DESCRIPTION of MAJOR PROJECTS/TASKS:

If you do not already know how to knit, or need a review, or need to practice using the very narrow 0000-knitting needle, you will be taught. This includes the knit stitch, casting on stitches, binding off stitches, and counting rows and stitches.

Using 11/0 seed beads, Perle Cotton #8, and 4-aught knitting needles, create a small bead-knitted necklace bag.

 

DESCRIPTION of SKILLS/TECHNIQUES/CONCEPTS TO BE LEARNED:

Basics of knitting.

Basics of bead-knitting.

 

CLASS TIME ESTIMATE:

3 hours for session one
choosing materials, discussion instructions, learn or re-learning knitting, basics of tools, begin the project

Student will complete bead-knitted bag at home (should take about 5-6 hours), and return for follow-up session. Q&A session, making necessary corrections, embellishing the bag, making the neckband.

$30.00 instructional fee plus $10.00 for instructional book

Class Description: Learn to make bead-knitted bags, using seed beads, perle cotton and 4-aught knitting needles.

You do NOT have to know how to knit before this class. You'll be taught.

A follow-up class will be scheduled, as well.

1 ball of perle cotton #8 (color to match beads)
1 tube of 11/0 seed beads (28-30 grams)
1 bobbin of Nymo thread or C-lon thread to attach any embellishments
(any beads, charms, buttons you may want to use to embellish the bag)
2 #0000 knitting needles
1 big eye needle

 

Optional (these will be provided for the class, if you do not want to purchase your own)
small crochet hook (like a size 8)
scissors
tapestry needle or Sharps beading needle, size #10
