GOALS AND OBJECTIVES: To explore the properties and uses of polymer clay containing mica particles
DESCRIPTION of MAJOR PROJECTS/TASKS: Create two-colored spiral, stripe and checkerboard canes with a single metallic color
Create holographic images and textures with rubber stamps and texture sheets or found objects
Use mica shift techniques to create a bead sampler necklace
DESCRIPTION of SKILLS/TECHNIQUES/CONCEPTS TO BE LEARNED: - learn how to manipulate metallic clay to exploit its two-color properties

In this course, students will learn how to manipulate metallic clay to exploit its two-color properties.   This mica shift technique will be used to create patterned canes, and holographic images and textures.

At the beginning of this class, the typical student should be able to do/know the following: Students should know the differences between polymer clay brands, as well as how to handle, bake, and finish polymer clay.  Students should also know how to construct basic canes from polymer clay, as well as how to reduce and slice polymer clay canes.
At the end of this class, the typical student should be able to achieve/accomplish/learn the following: Create two-color canes using a single color of metallic clay
Create holographic images and textures using metallic clay
