GOALS AND OBJECTIVES: To create picture canes by building upon the basic concepts of caning
DESCRIPTION of MAJOR PROJECTS/TASKS: Create several picture canes
Create a focal bead or pendant using all three canes
DESCRIPTION of SKILLS/TECHNIQUES/CONCEPTS TO BE LEARNED: - learn how to construct a simple flower cane
- learn how to construct a leaf cane
- learn how to construct a butterfly cane
- learn the importance of outlining, packing, and contrast
CLASS TIME ESTIMATE: 4 hours

WRITTEN COURSE DESCRIPTION In this course, students will learn how to construct three picture canes including a simple flower, a leaf, and a butterfly.
At the beginning of this class, the typical student should be able to do/know the following: Students should know how to construct basic canes from polymer clay, as well as how to reduce and slice polymer clay canes
At the end of this class, the typical student should be able to achieve/accomplish/learn the following: Create a flower, leaf and butterfly cane
Create a pendant utilizing all three designs
