GOALS AND OBJECTIVES: To create more complex, symmetrical, geometric designs by building upon the basic concepts of caning
DESCRIPTION of MAJOR PROJECTS/TASKS: Create a variety of geometric canes by cutting and recombining more simple cane designs
Assemble a dangling brooch from cane slices
DESCRIPTION of SKILLS/TECHNIQUES/CONCEPTS TO BE LEARNED: - learn how to construct a variety of complex canes
- learn about the importance of contrast in cane design
- learn about symmetrical design
- learn to make large patterned sheets from small canes
CLASS TIME ESTIMATE: 4 hours

In this course, students will learn how to construct a variety of complex canes including folded, maze, complex spiral, and brush stroke canes.

At the beginning of this class, the typical student should be able to do/know the following: Students should know how to construct basic canes from polymer clay, as well as how to reduce and slice polymer clay canes
At the end of this class, the typical student should be able to achieve/accomplish/learn the following: Create a variety of complex, symmetrical, geometric canes
Combine can slices into a sheet creating a larger interlocking design
