PREREQUISITES: None
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES: To teach the student the basics of working with and baking polymer clay
DESCRIPTION of MAJOR PROJECTS/TASKS: Create a Skinner Color Blend and use it to decorate a needle tool
DESCRIPTION of SKILLS/TECHNIQUES/CONCEPTS TO BE LEARNED:

- learn what polymer clay is
- learn about different types/brands of clay
- learn about the tools needed to work with clay
- learn about the varied uses for polymer clay
- learn how to properly bake polymer clay
- learn how to give polymer clay pieces a smooth matte or shiny finish
- make a Skinner color blend
- cover, bake, and finish a needle tool

CLASS TIME ESTIMATE: 4 hours

In this course, students will learn all they need to know to begin using polymer clay as an art medium.  Polymer clay is a wonderful, colorful, and versatile "new" art material.   In addition, students will learn to make the versatile Skinner color blend.

Two colors of Premo! Sculpey or Fimo Soft Polymer Clay (black and white, or white and any other color make excellent choices.   No transparent or translucent colors please)
Polymer clay slicing blade
Needle Blank
