PREREQUISITES: CLAYMT4001: Getting Started With Metal Clay - Slab Pendant
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES:

To teach students at least 10 different ways that PMC+ can be embellished.

Students will use a variety of found objects, rubber stamps, carved molds and other textured materials to create patterns, attach synthetic stones (optional), and use applique/collage techniques to create a jewelry piece.

DESCRIPTION of MAJOR PROJECTS/TASKS:

Either,
(a) Embellish the sides of one large cube (pendant) and two small ones (earraings)
or,
(b) make Collage Earrings and Embellished Pendant

 

DESCRIPTION of SKILLS/TECHNIQUES/CONCEPTS TO BE LEARNED:

Learn to embellish the surface of PMC+ using drills, frit, rough, carving, syringe, replacement, applique, masking, stone setting, paste, and the like.

CLASS TIME ESTIMATE: 3-4 hours
MIN/MAX # STUDENTS PER CLASS: 4-8 students
CLASS FEE and DEPOSIT: $50.00 fee/$40.00 deposit
$25.00 laboratory and embellishment materials fee
ADDITIONAL CLASS COSTS PER STUDENT:

Students will need to provide PMC+ clay, which may be purchased at Be Dazzled Beads.

Students may want to purchase a cubic zirconia stone, typically $3.00-$9.00, which may be purchased at Be Dazzled Beads.

All tools will be provided as part of the class, though they also may be purchased separately through Be Dazzled Beads.

In this course, students will learn how to embellish the surface of PMC+.  Sides of cubes (or other surfaces) will seve as the canvas and students will leave with a finished pendant and pair of earrings.

At the beginning of this class, the typical student should be able to do/know the following: Students should know how to handle lump and syringe clay, and to fire and finish PMC+.
At the end of this class, the typical student should be able to achieve/accomplish/learn the following: Create a variety of PMC+ surface textures and embellishments.

Supply List

Students will need:
1 jar PMC+ paste
1  student-size syringe clay
1 to 2 small size CZ's stones
OPTIONAL:   PMC+ in paper sheet form

Students may bring any tool or texture or imprint they might like to use to embellishment their pieces.

The basic tools and cork clay will be provided for students to use at the class.   The student may also bring their own, or purchase their own at Be Dazzled Beads.
