GOALS AND OBJECTIVES: Students will be introduced to the peyote stitch method of beading, learn about thread tension and how this affects piece, learn how to add in new thread and finish/tie off piece for completion.  Learn how to "read" a pattern.
Cover both even and odd count peyote.
DESCRIPTION of MAJOR PROJECTS/TASKS: Create a beaded pen using even count peyote.
DESCRIPTION of SKILLS/TECHNIQUES/CONCEPTS TO BE LEARNED:

- even count peyote stitch
- odd count peyote stitch
- how to read a peyote graph pattern
-learn how to add thread to a piece already in progress by utilizing a weaver's knot, as well as other weaving techniques.  
-learn about thread tension and how this affects piece 
-learn how to finish off the pen for completion

PEY2010:  FLAT PEYOTE - BEADED TWIST BALL POINT PEN

Students will learn the flat peyote, even and odd count stitches method of beading which consists of a stitching approach that approximates the idea of a zipper.  Students will be introduced to a graph and learn to read a pattern that has been graphed.   Students will learn how to add thread to a piece already in progress by utilizing a weaver's knot, as well as other weaving techniques.   Students will learn how to finish off a piece for completion.

Know the uses of wax
At the end of this class, the typical student should be able to achieve/accomplish/learn the following: Complete any flat, even or odd count, peyote stitch project

#12 or #13 English beading needle
Nymo thread, size D, any color that matches your beads
3 colors of Japanese 12/0 delicas
wax or thread heaven
