GOALS AND OBJECTIVES:

To teach the basics of bead crocheting
To make a bracelet using a simple bead crochet stitch

 

DESCRIPTION of MAJOR PROJECTS/TASKS:

Create a bead crocheted bracelet

DESCRIPTION of SKILLS/TECHNIQUES/CONCEPTS TO BE LEARNED:

- Learn about bead crochet stitches
- Learn about making choices about which threads to use with which beads
- Learn about making choices about which crochet hook to use
- Learn about finishing off a bead crochet rope

3 hours (plus 1 additional hour to be scheduled by teacher and students)

BC0101:  INTRODUCTION TO BEAD CROCHETED ROPES

Learn to bead crochet a rope bracelet! These luxurious beaded ropes have had a resurgence in popularity. In this class, the student will learn to bead crochet using a simple slip stitch. Students will learn about different kinds of threads to use, using a crochet hook, how to start with a ladder stitch, and how to finish off the bead crochet rope.

(1 additional hour to be scheduled by teacher and students).

At the beginning of this class, the typical student should be able to do/know the following: No previous experience required.
At the end of this class, the typical student should be able to achieve/accomplish/learn the following: Bead crochet a rope using a simple slip stitch
Select threads and beads for use in bead crochet
Finish off a bead crocheted rope

Supply List

Gutermann 100% polyester thread (heavy duty 30m) (teacher will have this available in class for purchase)

Size 8/0 seed beads in four contrasting colors: Red, White, Blue and Green. Suggested Miyuki 8/0 seed beads in 150FR, 141FR, 402F, and 412.

Regular sewing needle (provided for use in the class)

Size 8 crochet hook (provided for use in the class)

Accent bead (see the picture above for an example)
