Student Orientation & Curriculum
Guide
The CBJA accepts applications (see Admission/Registration ) from any person interested in further developing their skills in beadworking or jewelry-making. Application is made for specific courses, rather than the program as a whole. AnAcademic Calendar is maintained which lists our current schedule of courses and workshops. All courses and workshops have limited enrollments. Deadlines for enrollment, unless otherwise specified, are at least 3-5 days in advance. Because of limited enrollments and enrollment deadlines, it is advisable for the student interested in enrolling in any particular course should do so at their earliest convenience. You may also add your name to our e-mail notification list by filling in your email address below and submitting the information to Yahoo.
Before enrolling, students are asked to review theCurriculum, and note any specialRequirements or prerequisites. Students may request to place out of prerequisite courses. As part of this request, students will be asked to provide beadwork which demonstrates the proficiency and skills s/he would like to be exempted from. Read Placing out of prerequisites . All classes, except the Orientation Class, charge fees for enrollment, and require a deposits at time of enrollment. (SeeFees and Deposits ). For some classes and workshops, in which extensive fees may be involved, a payment schedule will be provided. In all cases, the full enrollment fee, must be paid before students will be admitted into the course or workshop. Fees cover the cost of instruction. They do not cover the cost of supplies or tools. In some classes, an additional lab and/or equipment fee may be charged. If a student cancels a particular course or workshop, or for any reason is unable to attend a particular course or workshop, after enrolling in it, they will forfeit their deposit. If the student has paid the full fee, and the fee is greater than the deposit, the student will receive the amount which is the difference between the full fee and the deposit. CBJA reserves the right to cancel any class or workshop, or to reschedule it. If this is the case, students would be entitled to a refund of their full deposit or course fee. The waiting list fee of $5.00 is nonrefundable. For those students who cannot afford a particular class or workshop, in most cases, some kind ofFinancial Assistance may be available in the form of "work/study". Educational profiles are maintained for each student enrolled, or previously enrolled, in the CBJA. The profiles are used to track the progress of students through the programs, to check whether prerequisites for any class or program sequence have been met. AdditionalPolicies & Procedures should be reviewed before enrolling in any course. |
