Center For Beadwork & Jewelry Arts - beadworking and jewelry-making classes

STAFF

Warren Feld

Warren entered into the bead business about 15 years ago, after working 20 years consulting and teaching hospital administrators and planners how to manage their facilities and programs.   He was ready for a change.

He, with his partner James Jones, owns Be Dazzled Beads, a bead shop in Nashville, as well as Land of Odds, an on-line bead catalog business.

The bead business has been a wonderful adventure.    His commitment and concern for the "teaching of beadwork" resulted from watching and talking with customers in the shop.   It was obvious that many people took classes, but that they weren't necessarily learning something -- at least learning something that would stick with them, and that they could comfortably apply in other situations.  At the shop, we do a lot of re-teaching -- putting things learned in a broader context, showing alternative ways of achieving the same ends, explaining how the choice of materials used in a project will affect how its done, and how durable it will be over time.

Warren teaches many of the business-oriented courses in the CBJA curriculum, including how to get started in business, how to price jewelry, and how to market your business.  He also teachers the Intro to Color class, as well as the Jewelry Design I and II classes.
