Tracey Dooling "Colors! I am so intrigued by the play of light through
glass." Tracey's interest in beads and handmade jewelry led her to work
part time at one bead store while filling in at another while the
owner was gone to shows and conventions. "That really got me going,"
says Tracey. "I learned a lot about jewelry and what customers are
interested in that year." Mostly self taught, Tracey is interested in a myriad of
techniques - she has done wire work, stringing, knotting,
beadweaving (peyote and loom), and even took a weeklong workshop at
the Appalachian Center to learn lampworking. She is also
learning to graph her own charts for beadweaving techniques on her
computer. Currently Tracey has a few clients that order custom pieces. She
also has jewelry available on consignment in two local stores and
sells exclusive pieces outright to another. Tracey is currently
developing her own web site as well. Tracey currently lives in an
old farmhouse outside of Franklin with her husband Keith and their
menagerie of animals. "I have worked many different jobs over the past twenty-two
years, always learning what I could then becoming bored. This whole
field of jewelry is HUGE, wide open. There is so much to learn and
experiment with - wire, big beads, tiny beads...nothing has taken
over my life like this! I think, sleep and (not quite) eat
beads." |
